Submited By: William Zurbrick on 10/15/2009 I purchased a pair of these (well, I have bought 5 now...will explain!) for my first pair of DIY 2-way loudspeakers. They were mated with Aurasound NS4-255-8F drivers. These tweeters appealed to me because of their price (first project, didn't want to get in too deep financially), and they seemed to have very a nice, flat response according to their datasheet. Thus far, I have been very happy with them. The sound quality from the loudspeakers beats anything you would find at a big-box store! Don't discount these due to their price, I am very pleased with them.
Now, I have bought 5 of these because of my own clumsiness. The product page for theses says it...don't touch the dome! Even if you blow too hard on it, it will deform. Being rear-mounted & very close to the 4" hole for the woofer, I ended up putting the hook for a shop light through one, a thumb into another & a screwdriver into the last one. If the dome remains intact, you can CAREFULLY use some duct tape to pop it back out, but there will be permanent crumpling damage. I don't know enough about how the motor assembly is assembled to say how much this damages output, but it certainly won't help! Be careful with these, put some sort of protective covering over them during assembly! |
