 Eclipse 15" Woofer
EMI-1550 15" High Efficiency Sub
We had this woofer made by Eminence in order to offer an efficient subwoofer for use with high efficiency full range speakers and efficient speaker systems. We worked with Eminence to develop a 15" woofer where efficiency and bass response were equally important, not just power handling. We are very happy with the results.
When using the EMI-1550 with one of our plate amplifiers, we recommend a 3.5 cubic foot box with the 4" flared port 6" long (5" if not using a flared port). For the flared ports that we have, you would connect the front flare to the rear flare and not use the center tube. This box will give you and F3 of 36Hz. Power handling of 150 watts without exceeding the x-max, maximum output of 114.5dB. Using this box with and amplifier that doesn't have a bass boost will result in an F3 of 45Hz.
Another box option for an amplifier without a bass boost would be the Extended Bass Shelf, 4.5 cubic feet with a 4" diameter vent by 5" long (6" if flared port). The F3 is about 40Hz, roll off starts at about 100Hz.

Eminence 12" Polypropylene cone Woofer, rubber surround, stamped steel frame. This speaker should be a good choice for a small, powerful subwoofer.
